I have no idea why someone would want to install Honda’s Drive Recorder onto their Civics, unless of course, you want to help out your car insurance company in the event of a fender bender. Regardless, the Drive Recorder records 12 seconds before and 8 seconds after any accident. It records 135 degree forward imagery along with sound and data on speed and acceleration. Like a blackbox on airplanes, except for your Honda car. All data is stored on the on-board SD card for easy PC export.
It is currently out in Japan for 54,600 Yen, or around $500 USD.

This has got to be one of the coolest fish tanks I’ve ever seen. It’s like a futuristic city for your goldfish. The tank holds 230 liters of water, that’s just under 61 gallons. Nothing else much to say, except that it’s a cool aquarium.
From Octopus Studios, the kit will cost you about $3400 USD and includes the actual aquarium structure, stands, filtration, lighting, and aeration systems, decoration (silk plants), and cleaning equipment. The stand comes in three color options: black, cherry brown, and carbon fiber.

No one likes sitting on a wet bench after a rainy day. Designers Sungwoo Park, Yoonha Paick, Jongdeuk Son, Banseok Yoon, Eunbi Cho, and Minjung Sim designed a bench can “rotate” its seat to the dryer side. Simply crank the lever on the side of the bench and voila! No more wet spot.
Called the Rolling Bench, it’s damn clever.

The U.S. Navy ran a test today on its 32-megajoule rail gun that’s capable of hitting targets 200 nautical miles way…that’s about 230 ‘regular’ miles. The rail gun uses electromagnetics (electricity) instead of gun powder to propel the projectile at speeds up to Mach 7, that about 5,328 mph. Thankfully, there’s alway Youtube for videos. The videos below demonstrate the gun being fired at 10-megajoule…
One more vid after the jump.
No, don’t worry. Those kids aren’t being crushed by boulders. Nope, they’re actually sleeping on pillows. Called the Livingstones (by Sarin Design), ithey are “high quality, surrealistic” floor cushions.
Sizes range from 3.9 inches to 2.3 feet. The Livingstones come in both an indoor and outdoor collection. So, you can have set for your kids to jump around on inside the house, and a set for you to catch a suntan on by the poolside.
