Mini solar panel cellphone strap

239-102343.jpg

Perfect if you live in a very sunny area, the cellphone strap from Japan’s Strapya is a miniaturized solar cell that can charge your cellphone. Excellent for the cellphone-glued teenie boppers that just need to inform everyone on who is dating who.

The solar cell only has a lifespan of about 500 charges before you need to buy a new one. Unfortunately, the product page is written in Japanese. I can’t read Japanese, but it appears to cost 1,900 Yen or about $18 USD.

Animated business cards

I’m not quite sure how this works. To me, it looks like a couple of images are layered on top of each other and when moved side to side the collective image appears to be animated. More like an optical illusion. Whatever the case, watch the video, the concept is interesting, though, a bit tacky. I mean, if someone handed me a business card like that, you think I’d take him seriously?

The concept is from Chung Dha Lam, a student at Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Bubble gum disposer bin

gum1.jpg

British designer Anna Bullus has invented the Bubble Gum Bin which apparently sticks to city poles for pedestrians to dispose their bubble gum in. This saves 3.5 billion bubble gums from entering the landfills in Britain alone. It also saves them from being spat onto the pavement, and God knows how much I hate stepping on someone’s chewed gum. Argh!

Interestingly, the Bubble Gum Bin is made from recycled chewing gum and bio resin, which Bullus coined “Gumnetic”.

miShare lets you share your iPod music

mishare_2.jpg

Ever wanted to transfer a song from your iPod to your friend’s iPod without having to use a computer?

The miShare lets you share files from one iPod to another with a simple press of a button. Just connect the two iPods together, move the miShare’s slider to music, photos, or videos, and press the button to begin the transfer. Unfortunately, the miShare only works with iPods. iPhone and iPod Touch need not apply. Furthermore, this does not circumvent DRM’d tracks. If you copy a DRM’d track, you still must authorize it.

As far as transferring goes, the miShare lets you copy a single file or multiple files at once. It also supports USB 2.0 for fast file transfers.

It is available now at the miShare website for $99.95, not including tax or the $12.95 shipping.

Nemorelaxer: airport oasis

nemorelaxer.JPG

The Nemorelaxer, from company Nemorelax, is offering sky travelers in airports a “privacy capsule” in which they can unwind in and relax. The Nemorelaxer sports a reclining seat and thanks to its cocoon-like shape offers privacy and some sound proofing to allow occupants to catch some shut eye. If sleep is not what you need, the modules come equipped with touchscreen monitor for movie watching or music listening, Internet Wi-Fi, and a foldaway table so you can use your laptop.

The company plans to offer 30 minute time slots in airports.
