Ever wondered how fast you typed and how many words you’ve typed on a daily basis? Wonder no more with the USB Speedometer. Simply plug the Speedometer to an available USB port and install the included software. Then, type away! The USB Speedometer will measure how fast you can type (WPM) in a car speedometer-like analog gauge. It will also display the total number of words you’ve typed during the day via the display - similar to an odometer on a car. The USB Speedometer taps out at 260 WPM, but realistically, who can type that fast? If you can, let me know. I’d love to see it.
Be sure to drop one of these Super Mario Brothers Bath Bombs the next time you take a bath. At first glance, I thought these were tennis balls. Instead, the Bath Bombs are to be dropped in a tub of water - which causes them to fizz (think Alka-seltzer) and release a fragrant smell. However, the best part about these mysterious balls is that once they are fully dissolved, they release a Super Mario Brothers figurine. Each ball contains one and there are a total of six possible figures: Mario, Luigi, Fire Mario, Bowzer, Goomba, and Power Mushroom.
A group of Japanese developers have engineered the Lady Bird, a lady-bug shaped robot that stands 1 meter (39 inches) tall and 1.35 meter (53 inches) long. The Lady Bird is designed to clean public highway restrooms in Japan. The cleaning robot is equipped with brushes, water tanks, and other cleaning equipment. It is capable of scrubbing floors while avoiding obstacles in its path. It features detection sensors to avoid bumping into walls and restroom patrons. The Lady Bird can also engage in simple conversation with restroom users using its voice synthesizer and speech recognition software. It can even give people the latest road and traffic conditions.
I just have one question. Will it be able to wipe my behind too when I’m done?
Measuring 82 inches, the Samsung SyncMaster 820DXn is Samsung’s “largest and most powerful large format display”. However, don’t be fooled, this isn’t just a big fancy television. The SyncMaster 820DXn comes fully decked out with an AMD Athlon64 X2 3400+ 1.8 GHz dual core processor, 4GB of flash storage memory, 512 MB of DDR2 RAM, an ATI graphics card, and Windows XPe. This allows users to display content without the need for connecting the TV to a separate computer.
The display itself features a 5000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution, 8 ms response time, and comes equipped with Samsung’s Super Patterned Vertical Alignment (S-PVA) technology, which gives the 820DXn a 178-degree viewing angle. Similiarly, it also sports Samsung’s DNIe PRO image enhancement technology, which provides more natural picture colors, richer contrast, and finer details.
Here’s the shocker…the price for Samsung’s SyncMaster 820DXn is $76,999 USD. Too expensive if you ask me. The PC specs aren’t that ‘high end’ and neither is the display (granted it is 1080p and 82-inches, but $77k?). But for business owners that have cash to burn, why not?
What looks like a futuristic unicycle is actually the Bombardier’s Embrio Advanced Concept, which is a one-wheeled recreational and commuting motorcycle from the future - 2025 to be exact. Canadian company, Bombardier Recreational Products, has designed the single wheeled vehicle to be ridden like a motorcycle. Powered by hydrogen filled fuel cells, the Embrio sports a system of gyroscopes and sensors that can balance the bike along with two passengers. Under 12.5 mph (or standing still), the Embrio utilizes its two small front wheels to maintain the bike’s balance. It deploys during slow speeds but retracts once the Embrio gets up to speed. To bring it to a stop, the rider uses the hand brakes located on the handle bars.
Construction-wise, the Embrio is made from lightweight materials: aluminum, magnesium and nylon. It weighs 360 pounds.
Who hand closes curtains these days? A guy from the Netherlands was able to program a Nintendo Wii controller to open and close his curtains. To close the curtains, he simply motions the Wii-mote to the left. To open, he points the controller to the right. He can even stop the curtains by pointing directly forward. By using a curtain control system from Goelst (G-Rail 6200), a Bluetooth dongle, and GlovePIE, he was able to program his Wii-mote to control his drapes. How pimp is that?
The “hand assembled by ninjas” Nissan GT-R got reviewed by UK’s Fifth Gear’s Jason Plato. If you don’t know what the Nissan GT-R is…shame on you. Check out this, this, this too, and here. Otherwise, this needs no introduction, enjoy the vid.
Gameplay videos of Army of Two, from EA, has emerged online. Army of Two is a third-person shooter and as the name suggests, puts you on a team of two. The game is co-op enabled, so you can play with a friend over Xbox Live. Army of Two seems to promote team work and coordinated movements. As seen in the videos, you’ll need to use your teammate to reach certain areas and strategically take out the enemy. The game itself looks very good, however, I’m not too sure about the enemy AI. They just seem to run and take cover. It feels like it could get old real fast.
Anyways, enjoy the vids.
