Bottle opener by Giovanni Alessi

bottle-opener-by-giovanni-alessi.jpg

This ultra sexy looking bottle opener from Giovanni Alessi makes opening beer bottles a snap. Simply place the bottle opener on top of the bottle and push down as if you were placing the cap back on. Essentially, it just requires a downward motion. The bottle opener is magnetic, so it will hold the cap preventing it from flying across the room. It measures 3.1″ x 3.7″.

The bottle opener from Giovanni Alessi is ovoid shape and made from stainless steel. $47 at Unica Home. Yeah, $47 dollars for a bottle opener? Sexiness is expensive.

NES sneaker

nes-sneaker.jpg

Someone managed to take the guts of an NES and fit it inside a Nike shoe. The shoe is fully functional…at least the NES is. I’m not too sure if you could still wear the shoe around town. Pretty dope. It’d be epic if you could still wear the shoe. Who wouldn’t want to play Duck Hunt where ever a TV was available? Hopefully, you won’t have too much trouble getting past airport security with the light gun in hand.

Imagine if we could get a SNES on the other shoe. OMG!!

Shockwave traffic jam experiment

Ever wondered why traffic jams occur? I’ve always wondered why traffic even exists on fast, free-flowing roads, like freeways and highways. Apparently, according to an experiment, traffic occurs out of nowhere. All it takes is for one idiot…err, driver to slow down. “After that first vehicle brakes, the driver behind must also slow, and a shockwave jam of bunching cars appears, traveling backwards through the traffic.”

In the experiment, Japanese researchers put 22 cars on a circular track. They asked all of the drivers to maintain a 30 km/h speed. At first, every car was moving smoothly. However, over time, they began to bunch up for no apparent reason.

So, there you have it. Inapt driving skills causes traffic.

V-Beat AirDrums and AirGuitar

v-beat-drum.JPG

Can’t afford a full blown drum set. No worries. Checkout Silverlit’s V-Beat AirDrums. It comes with several pre-programmed rhythms and sound styles. Simply attach the “waist station” to your waist, put the “drum peddals” on the floor, and start air drumming! Motion sensors on the sticks are able to detect movement so you don’t need to actually hit something in order for them to cause a sound. All you need is some clear space around you. For drumming beginners, the AirDrum also includes an instructive guided learning feature.

£29.99 ($60 USD) at Thumbs Up.

Silverlit also as a V-Beat AirGuitar, if guitar-ing is more your thing. Just like the AirDrums, the AirGuitar also has pre-programmed rhythms and sounds. Video after the jump.

PS/2 Keyboard and Desktop Organiser

ps2-keyboard.gif

Cluttered desk? Yeah, well, join the club. The PS2 Keyboard and Desktop Organiser helps solve your desktop clutter. Looking like a standard keyboard, the Organizer opens up allowing you to store items inside, from CDs to pens. You can put anything that’ll fit inside. No more clutter. Believe it or not, the PS2 Keyboard and Desktop Organiser is a fully functional keyboard. As the name suggests, it uses a PS/2 connection; has 18 multi-media hotkeys, and is Windows compatible only. It’s no thicker than your average keyboard.

Too bad it looks ‘old-school’. Couldn’t they have modeled it after a nicer looking one? Get one for £24.99 ($50 USD).
