This ain’t your average soccer mom minivan. The late 90’s model Dodge Caravan packs a helicopter jet engine to its back. The 1,000 horsepower jet engine propels the van down the 1/4 mile in 11.17 seconds (1/8 mile in 7.65 seconds @ 96 mph). Its top speed is 113 mph because the rear axle ratio has been adjusted yet. Not bad for a minivan, but to be honest, though, I’m not that impressed. I guess, I was expecting fireworks. I wanted to see this thing zip down the track. However, this thing does spit out fire! The ‘fire spitting’ is purely for show. It’s done by spraying fuel into the jet’s exhaust. The owner of the project is Chris Krug, who works in Government surplus; hence, how he got the jet turbine. He spent $17,000 in modifications. Chris built the monster after being on the TV show “Junkyard Wars,” where he built a jet powered tricycle with a jet engine made from an old truck turbocharger.
