Train market: Ninja status

LOL. Watch as a train rolls by a market. The amazing part is what happens after the train goes by. It’s like nothing happened and everyone gets back to business. It’s crazy, almost Ninja like.

From train track to market in no time.

Any guesses as to how they know a train is coming?

Levi’s “The Original” cell phone

levis-phone.jpg

Levi’s wants a piece of the cell phone market and has entered with a rather stylish looking metallic phone. Featuring front and back steel casing and a soft plastic ear speaker, The Original will set you back $520 USD.

Specs-wise, The Original, is well…not very original. It’s got everything you’d expect, nothing jaw dropping: 1.76-inch TFT 262K color display (220 x 176), 2 megapixel camera, MPEG4/3GP video playback support, 60 MB on-board memory, microSD card slot, Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP, MP3 player, Wi-Fi (WAP 2.0 or GPRS Class 8), FM tuner, and USB connectivity. Battery life is an estimated 3.5 hours of talk time or 200 hours of standby.

The Levi’s The Original is only available in black. It measures 96 x 55 x 11 mm and weighs 98 grams.

Mario Kuribo Shoe Quilt

kuribo-shoe-mario.JPG

After 3 days of work, Brandon and his mom created the Kuribo Shoe quilt featuring everyone’s favorite: Mario. You can see their progression here. The quilt measures 22 x 23 “pixels”, with each pixel measuring 3 inches.

Makes me want to bust out my dusty old NES and play some Super Mario 3.

Tobidasu 3D Menu

tec-tobidasu-menu-3.jpg

Ever been to some restaurant for the very first time and aren’t sure what to order? The Tobidasu Menu, from TEC, helps calm your food worries by allowing you to see the food in 3D before ordering it. Sure you can’t taste the food, but at least you’ll be able to see if it *looks* good. Featuring a touchscreen display embeded in the table, patrons can browse through the menu and then view each food item in 3D. It even has a cute feature: when you place a hamburger bun on the display, it’ll show a hamburger patty with all the fixings.

TEC isn’t sure when or if or when the Tobidasu Menu will be commercially available.

magicJack: Skype what?

magicjack.jpg

The magicJack is a USB VoIP calling device similar to Skype or Vonage, but much cheaper. About the size of a matchbook, the magicJack only requires a USB port, broadband connection, a telephone handset, and Microsoft Windows (XP/Vista). Simply plug in the magicJack to your PC, connect a headset (or landline phone) to the device, and make your call. There is no software to install. Once you connect the device to your computer, the software will automatically run…off of the magicJack. It’ll even do emergency 911 calls. The person you call doesn’t not require a magicJack. You can call any ordinary landline phone. Here’s what you get:

* Free calls within USA and Canada (local and long distance)
* Voicemail
* Caller ID
* Your own phone number
* USB extension cord
* Emergency 911 and free 411 calls
* Call waiting/forwarding
* Free International calling to US/Canada numbers when traveling outside of the US.

You also don’t need to have your computer running to receive voice mails or to have your calls forwarded. Calls are forwarded from the company’s own switches. International rates are as low as 0.2 cents per minute. Full rates here.

The magicJack costs $39.95 a year. Best of all, you get one free year (calls within USA/Canada). There is a 30 day, 100% risk-free trial, so go ahead and give it a shot.

TravelTechTalk did a review of the device and are raving about it, despite its negligible delay.
