Aprilia makes awesome bikes. End of story. However, cost of ownership is pretty steep. The same applies to their latest RSV 1000R. The RSV 1000R made big waves during the 2006 9th Annual Masterbike contest, winning 1st place in the Maxisport category – besting the Suzuki GSX-R750 and Ducati 999 S. With a price tag of around $18,000 (for the Aprilia RSV 1000R Factory), you’ll get a V60 Magnesium four stroke longitudinal 60° V twin pushing 143 horsepower all the way up to 10,000 rpm. Torque is 76 ft-lbs at 8,000 rpm. It is capable of reaching speeds excess of 174 mph.

I’ve had the priviledge of being able to ride quite a few different bikes in the past year or so; GSXR’s, CBR’s Ninja’s Yami’s etc., etc. but I have to say, NOTHING compares to the ultimate beast of them all, the 2008 Aprilia RSV 1000 R. Smiling from ear to ear, nothing but an empty tank could have got me off that bike.
The power this machine has, and such a beastly roar as the RPMs quickly rise; hands down, my new found love!
Also, being a small framed chick, the front end is dying to get up and the weight is a big difference compared to the 600s I’m used to riding…however, very pleased this was my first 1000 I got to ride!
    Thanks for the post!
