Saleen has uncovered its S5S Raptor concept today at the New York Auto Show. The S5S Raptor gets a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, pumping 650 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 630 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm. 0-60 mph comes in a blistering 3.2 seconds. To side with the environmentalist and treehuggers, Saleen chose E85 as the juice to power the Raptor. The lightweight aluminum chassis, two seater supercar can be equipped with either a six-speed tranny or an optional paddle shifting sequential gearbox. To bring the 20-inch wheels to a stop, braking power is delivered by 15-inch front rotors with 6-piston calipers and 13-inch rear rotors with dual piston calipers.

Price, you ask? How does $185,000 sound? The Saleen S5S Raptor could see the streets in two years.

Hey Steve how about making something for the common man in the $20-30000 price range. With badge you would be surprise how much volume you might gain. Make in to where it can compete with the Honda tuner market around the 200hp range with lots of upgrades. Perhaps importing some cosworth engines and making something along the lines of say a MR2, and 4 door /3door concept. I think it would help your bottom line a great deal after all we all can’t upper mid to rich. Just a suggestion.
