A toilet flusher handle is probably one of the most nastiest things you could ever touch, especially in public restrooms — like those god-awful gas station restrooms. Thankfully, the Foot Flush is a solution to preventing you from ever touching a toilet flusher again. Instead of using your bare hands, the Foot Flush is a foot pedal that is connected to your toilet’s flushing mechanism, allowing you to flush the toilet by simply stepping on the pedal. It’s an ingenious idea.

Audio-Technica has dropped two new speaker docks for either your Apple iPod or other MP3 player. The Audio-Technica AT-SP250 is specifically geared towards iPods, including the iPhone and Touch, providing 3W of total power. The speakers are powered by 4 AAA batteries and must be slid apart to make room for the iPod in the center. When “closed” the AT-SP250 measures 124 x 28 x 86mm; 160 x 86 x 86mm when “open”.
The Audio-Technica AT-SP250 will be launched in Japan for 5,040 yen ($50 USD) on April 18th. Available colors are red, black, and white.
On the other hand, if you don’t own an iPod, Audio-Technica has the AT-SP230 available, which are for non-Apple digital MP3 players and much simpler than the SP250.
The PistolCam is a small, compact camcorder that can be “clipped on” to most handguns. The PistolCam can take still images or record video with its 512MB of storage and 3.2 megapixel image sensor, capable of recording up to 60 minutes of video in VGA quality MPEG-4 (at 30 fps). It even has a laser sight, which makes it even cooler. Mini USB is used to transfer files between the PistolCam and a PC.
The premise behind the PistolCam is to provide a gun barrel view of what law enforcers see, removing the confusion about what really happened during an arrest. It helps catch “trigger happy” police offers, provide evidence in court, and makes a great training tool for new recruits. The handgun is not included.
Demo of the PistolCam’s quality (which isn’t too bad):
They should make the TaserCam, so we can really see what is happening when college students get tasered.
Samsung has a haptic touchscreen phone soon to hit the masses, at least in Korea. The Samsung SCH-W420/SPH-W4200’s highlight is its UI that allows “drag and drop” functionality in its applications. For example, you can drag and drop photos in its photo viewer, essentially giving you the option to arrange all of your photos the way you want — all by touchscreen. The phone also gives users tactile feedback. For example, adjusting the phone’s volume simulates the same vibration and clicking noise of a real volume knob (see the video below). Lastly, the Samsung SCH-W420 supports widgets, allowing users to customize the main screen to their preference.
Lee Spievack sliced a half inch off of his right middle finger after he accidentally stuck his finger through the rotating propeller of a hobby R/C airplane. Luckily, Lee had a brother, Alan, who was a medical researcher. Alan was able to give his brother a “magical” powder, which he instructed Lee to sprinkle onto the damaged finger. Miraculously, Lee’s finger grew back: flesh, blood, vessels, and nail.
What exactly was the powder?
[The] powder is a substance made from pig bladders called extracellular matrix. It is a mix of protein and connective tissue surgeons often use to repair tendons and it holds some of the secrets behind the emerging new science of regenerative medicine.
Basically, the extracellular matrix stimulated the regrowth of tissue, signaling the adult stem cells into what to do, where to go, and how they need to differentiate. Theoretically, the same process can be used to grow entire limbs, which is currently being investigated by the military.
LG’s 3G HSDPA phone, the LG-SH240, is made from a combination of metal and silicon to give it that skin-like feel. No idea why someone would want a phone feeling like a “limb”. Personally, I don’t want to my phone feeling like I’m holding a flimsy dead hand. Fortunately, it appears only the keypad is made from silicon.
Spec-wise the LG-SH240 sports:
* Bluetooth
* 2 mega pixel camera
* video conferencing support
* MP3 player
* microSD card slot
* subway map (?)
* electronic dictionary
The LG-Sh240 has a retail price around 400,000 KRW, or $400.00 USD.
The Lovecraft t-shirt by At-elier is a rather unique shirt that if you look closely, you should see an outline of a skull.
At first, I thought the shirt’s black lines were some sort of 3D stereogram. Boy, did I waste all that energy. If you can’t see the skull, try sticking your face closer to your monitor. The image disappears the further away you are.
The Lovecraft shirt costs $59.00 AUD, that’s approximately $55 USD. Available at People Like Us Collective.
