Taking reality and mixing a little bit of ‘electronic pixels’, the Pixel Pour is found in New York City’s Lower East Side. The creator is unknown, but is a rather clever piece of artwork that utilizes a street pipe to create a “wonderful instance of hybrid” reality.
Made from hand dried felt, Crafster member blueblythe is the mastermind behind the ‘plush’ NES. Taking two weeks to complete, the Plush NES comes included with a game controller and light gun. It also includes two game cartridges: Super Mario Bros. 3 and Duck Hunt. Humorously, the game screen is interchangeable to reflect both games. When I first saw the “Hancock” movie trailer, I thought it was a joke. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of Will Smith, but watching a movie where the ‘Fresh Prince’ is a superhero just didn’t seem right. However, after watching the entire trailer, I can’t wait to see it.
FATS stands for Fitness Achievement Technology System. Designed by students at the Utrecht School of Arts in the Netherlands, FATS are a pair of shoes that feature LED lights and embedded motion sensors that alters the color and appareance of the shoe when movement is detected. A glass fiber yarn woven on the outside reflects the light from LEDs, offering several different visualizations by running or walking. The purpose is to motivate kids to get off of the couch and start exercising. Interestingly, secret visualizations can be unlocked depending on the amount of exercise the child has accomplished.
