FATS stands for Fitness Achievement Technology System. Designed by students at the Utrecht School of Arts in the Netherlands, FATS are a pair of shoes that feature LED lights and embedded motion sensors that alters the color and appareance of the shoe when movement is detected. A glass fiber yarn woven on the outside reflects the light from LEDs, offering several different visualizations by running or walking. The purpose is to motivate kids to get off of the couch and start exercising. Interestingly, secret visualizations can be unlocked depending on the amount of exercise the child has accomplished.
