Okay, musical roads aren’t exactly new. I mean Japan already has a signing road of its own, which I blogged about back in March. However, what I didn’t know is that the United States one too in Lancaster, California, all thanks to Honda. As part of a promotional tool, Honda carved out grooves in a strip of road between 60th and 70th West Road in Lancaster. Honda says the road was optimally designed for the tires and wheelbase of a Civic, which plays the “The William Tell Overture” (aka “The Lone Ranger” theme song) when driven over. News clip video after the jump.
Unfortunately, the locals aren’t happy with the road. They whine about the excessive melody noise and increased traffic. Therefore, the city of Lancaster is planning on paving the road over. Too bad Lancaster has a bunch of whining residents.
