Piano motion drawn with a LED light

Ryan Cashman of San Diego, California got the idea of animating the motion of piano playing with his keychain LED light. So, with the background of San Diego’s night skyline behind him, he setup an electronic piano (or keyboard, if you prefer) on the street and photographed each frame with a 20-30 second exposure using his SLR. He drew each frame with his green keychain LED and strung all of the frames together to match his pre-recorded music. Pretty cool. Video after the jump.

Is it just me, or does the blob kinda look like the outline of Patrick Star from SpongeBob?
