Harman Kardon is set to release its GLA-55 two-piece computer and portable media speakers. Sporting a cut glass enclosure, the Harman Kardon GLA-55 is expected to sound pretty well given the company’s “high-fidelity audio” reputation. The speakers sport a chrome base, Atlas woofers, and CMMD tweeters — thumping 56 watts each. Regardless, I’m not quite too keen on the GLA-55’s look. Some will find it classy and elegant, but I think it looks like a giant piece of jagged ice.
The Harman Kardon GLA-55 also features touch sensitive controls, 3.5mm mini-jack connection, and a 100-watt bi-amplified digital amplifier with digital signal processing (DSP) equalization for optimized digital sound.
Harman Kardon is expected to launch the GLA-55 sometime this fall for an unannounced price. However, rumor has it that only 3,000 units will be made for around £500 ($887 USD) apiece.
