The Sandwichbike designed by Basten Leijh, is a single-speed fixie bicycle that comes packaged flat inside a box. The box measures 94 x 70 x 24 cm (37 x 27.6 x 9.4 in) and comes with all of the necessary parts and tools for the 45-minute assembly. It’s a pretty cool looking bike made out of beech plywood and milled aluminum. The beech plywood is coated to protect it from Mother Nature. The medium framed bicycle weighs 17 kilograms or about 37.5 pounds when fully assembled. The Sandwichbike is currently available in Europe for 799 Euro or about $1,100 USD. Shipping is 25 ($34 USD) Euro within Europe or 150 Euro ($206 USD) for shipment outside of Europe. A worldwide release is scheduled beginning January 1, 2014. Unfortunately, no disc brakes for the Sandwichbike; instead, it is equipped with a coaster brake in the rear.
