Created by Ally Rosenberg, this piece of art is made up of a thousand pieces of gum. Ally Rosenberg gathered up 50 of his friends to chew the gum he would later use as the ’skin’ for his artwork. Although the gum structure looks like an old man, it was actually inspired by a woman Ally Rosenberg had met in a pet shop. When asked about the woman, he said “She would probably not be very pleased with the result but I’m proud of it.” Now look at the picture and think, would ANYONE in their right mind be pleased to be portrayed as that gum structure? I mean, it looks like the Golem in Lord of the Rings.

Ahh, video game themed cakes never get old. Never! So when Flickr user, offwithyourtv got married, she had a Katamari Damacy Wedding Cake made for her special day by Mike’s Amazing Cakes of Redmond, Washington. The cake itself is actually a lemon with strawberry filling. They were said to end the wedding ceremony with a round of Guitar Hero. Awesome!

While the Super Mario Cake is 100% awesome, there’s just one thing I hate about cakes like these. You don’t want to eat them, because their just so…awesome looking. I’d feel too guilty cutting into it. Once you’re done drooling over the cake, play some Super Mario in flash after the jump.

Ryan Cashman of San Diego, California got the idea of animating the motion of piano playing with his keychain LED light. So, with the background of San Diego’s night skyline behind him, he setup an electronic piano (or keyboard, if you prefer) on the street and photographed each frame with a 20-30 second exposure using his SLR. He drew each frame with his green keychain LED and strung all of the frames together to match his pre-recorded music. Pretty cool. Video after the jump.

Stuff made from Lego is really nothing new. So, here’s another work of art to add to the list. For the MacMod Challenge 2008, is this Mac Pro made from 2,588 LEGO bricks. Designed in Lego Digital Designer 2.0, it actually houses two computers: a PC with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz CPU running Mac OS X and a Core Duo 1.66Ghz Mac Mini. And if you look closely, you just might see Steve Jobs chillin’ on the Apple Logo. Gallery after the jump.
UPDATE: Video added!

Designed by Milto, his one of a kind LEGO brick bikes are eye-deceivingly real looking. The level of detail on the bikes are impressive, especially given the fact that they’re made from plastic bricks. I’m not quite sure what the exact size of the bikes are, but from the looks of it, they’re not too large. So, unless you’re a newborn or a very light-weighted person, you won’t be able to sit on one of these. If Milto was able to make a life-sized one and put a real motorcycle engine in one of them, I’d probably buy it.

The Rolling Bridge is an award winning design by Thomas Heatherwick that uses hydrolics to retract and extend similar to the way a Rollie Pollie curls and uncurls. Completely retracted it takes the shape of an octagon. It’s an interesting design, but I sure hope they speed up the uncurling process. It retracts and extends at such a snail’s pace, it should have been called The Slow Rolling Bridge.
Video demonstration of the bridge unfolding after the jump.
