Philips GoGear SA52: upscales your audio

philips-gogear-sa52-2.jpg

The Philips GoGear SA52 media player is a pretty decent looking player that supposedly upscales your audio files for enhanced audio quality. Yeah, I don’t believe it either. Regardless, the GoGear SA52 sports MP3, WMA and AAC audio support and WMV video playback. It’s also got a 2.8-inch QVGA LCD display, 4GB of storage, FM radio, and of course the Digital Signal Processor that upscales your audio for a “symphony-like experience”.

Whatever, Philips. Whatever.

No availability or pricing details were announced.

Polaroid’s surprise PMP

polaroid-mpu-43315.jpg

Polaroid, known for their “shake-it-like-a-Polaroid-picture” cameras, are attempting to enter the portable media player market. The MPU-43315 is Polaroid’s first shot and it ain’t that bad looking…

Features:
* 4.3″ LCD display
* 16:9 widescreen
* 60 GB internal memory
* Audio formats: MP3, WMA, and WAV
* Video formats: WMV, MPEG4, and DivX
* FM radio
* Wi-Fi
* Rechargeable Li-ion batteries: 4 hours video playback/16 hours of audio

I’m surprised this doesn’t have a camera, given that it is Polaroid and they make cameras. No word on availability, but rumor has it that it’ll cost under $400.

D’Cube Diny D7: PMP necklace

dcube-diny-d7.jpg

Yup, a wearable PMP device that you can wear like a pendant necklace. Measuring 59.5 x 33 x 11mm, the D’Cube Diny D7 is an ultra-light portable media player that can play MP3, WMA, OGG, and WAV audio files; MPEG-4 and WMV (at 25 fps) video files. Unfortunately, the Diny D7 has a tiny 1.3-inch (128 x 160) display, which would make video watching a squinting chore. The D7 also features an FM tuner and D’Cube’s WiseAudio technology, which automatically adjusts the sound quality depending on the user’s listening environment to ensure maximum enjoyment. You don’t have to fiddle with the equalizer settings.

The D’Cube Diny D7 comes in either a 2 or 4 GB model for $77 and $97 respectively.

iriver E100: Review

iriver-e100.jpg

The first iriver player to make waves in the U.S. was the Clix2, iriver’s flagship player. Now comes the E100. While the player hasn’t even hit US shores, reviews of the European model have spawn online. Unfortunately, it seems the E100, although a very decent player, doesn’t have the same pizazz as the Clix. For a little background information see here.

SanDisk’s Sansa Fuze: Review

sansa_fuze.jpg

Not long after posting the details of SanDisk’s newest MP3 player, the Sansa Fuze, did reviews start hitting the net. SanDisk has positioned the ‘Fuze’ as an Apple iPod Nano (third gen) competitor. Unfortunately, for the most part, the ‘Fuze’ falls flat in the video support category and doesn’t have the audio prowess of other MP3 players. However, to its credit, SanDisk has attached attractive price tags to the ‘Fuze’: $79.99, $99.99, $129.99 for the 2, 4, and 8GB model.
