Plush Nintendo Entertainment System

plush-nes-1.jpg

Made from hand dried felt, Crafster member blueblythe is the mastermind behind the ‘plush’ NES. Taking two weeks to complete, the Plush NES comes included with a game controller and light gun. It also includes two game cartridges: Super Mario Bros. 3 and Duck Hunt. Humorously, the game screen is interchangeable to reflect both games. Simply remove the “game screen” and affix the appropriate screen for the game you are “playing”. Even the controller and light gun are “pluggable”.

More photos after the jump.

iPhone running Quake 3 with multiplayer

Remember the iPod Touch port of Counter-Strike a few weeks ago? Now, some clever guys have ported Quake 3 onto the iPhone. By utilizing the iPhone’s accelerometers, you control the movement by tilting the device. Tapping the screen causes you to shoot. While the Quake 3 port appears to be waaayyy better than the Counter-Strike version, the controls don’t look that smooth. Judging by the video, “tilting” the iPhone seems to be an irritating chore. However, seeing the multiplayer in action, albeit not very much of it, is still nice to see working. This just gets me more and more excited for the rumored 3G iPhone.

Assassin’s Creed + Metal Gear Solid 4 = No one fell for it April Fools’ Joke

I know April Fools’ was several days ago, but the video mash-up of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed and Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4 was pretty interesting. I didn’t really get the video (the joke), but it was more of a gameplay demo with Solid in Altair’s costume. The game (MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots) still looks awesome, but not as ‘purty’ as Jade Raymond… =)

Nintendo Wiimote, Nunchuck, and Classic Controller LED light show

SiebenDX’s “Wiimote extreme LED mod” is a dazzling LED light show featuring the Nintendo Wii’s various controllers — music played on top of “Through the Fire and the Flames” by DragonForce. Blinking LED lights never get old. Never.

The video reminded me of the Christmas house light show:

Paper Mario Stop Motion video + cookies!

Yes! Another Mario related post. This time, in the form of a stop motion video and delicious looking cookies. No clue on the author of the video, but the video is still well done. I’m just unsure about the ending…

Didn’t that video make you hungry for some cookies? After the jump.

Scopetris : Tetris + Oscilloscope

scopetris.jpg

If you liked the plasma speakers post, check out Scopetris. The genius behind Scopetris is Lars Pontoppidan, an electronic engineer, who decided to go the “road less traveled” by implementing Tetris, instead of Pong, on an oscilloscope. If you aren’t an EE major, like myself, an oscilloscope, simply put, is a device that measures the wave form (i.e., the varying voltage/current signal over time) generated by a circuit. Lars uses a microcontroller and an Atari/Amiga joystick to control the game. You can read more details on the implementation over at his website.

Smart man he is.
